Team Liquid Releases Music Anthem and Video for VALORANT Champions 2023
Multinational esports organisation Team Liquid has launched a music anthem and video to celebrate its participation in VALORANT Champions 2023. The song, titled ‘Turn The Tide’, features artists 2WEI, Edda Hayes, and Kataem, and was co-sponsored by Team Liquid’s long-time partner, Alienware.
VALORANT Champions 2023: The Largest Tournament of the VCT Season
Turn The Tide, now available on 2WEI’s Spotify page, showcases Team Liquid’s VALORANT roster in the music video. The song and video were created in anticipation of VALORANT Champions 2023, the biggest tournament of the VCT season, taking place in Los Angeles from August 6th – 13th. Sixteen teams from around the world will compete for a total prize pool of $2.25 million. Team Liquid will represent the EMEA region in the competition.
A Collaboration of Talents
2WEI, Edda Hayes, and Kataem collaborated to compose Turn The Tide, highlighting Team Liquid’s journey throughout the 2023 VALORANT season. The anthem captures themes of pursuing excellence and mastering challenges. For 2WEI, this was their first collaboration with an esports team to create exclusive music. However, both 2WEI and Edda Hayes have been involved in gaming activations in the past. They were featured in the joint cover of ‘Warriors’ by Imagine Dragons for the League of Legends Season 2020 cinematic. Kataem has also worked with various video game franchises, including League of Legends: Wild Rift and Battlefield.
An Inspirational Story of Overcoming Challenges
Nils Gebhardt, Team Liquid’s Project & Marketing Lead, shared his thoughts on the project, stating, “2WEI, Edda Hayes, and Kataem collaborated with Rhys’ creative team to create something truly special. Our VALORANT anthem is a tribute to our fans, and the music and visuals were carefully selected to tell an inspirational story. The epic music video depicts the idea of unity and overcoming any obstacles that come our way.”
Esports Organisations and Exclusive Music
Team Liquid is not the first esports organisation to promote its brand through exclusive music. G2 Esports released its second anthem with Jeris Johnson and Theresa Jarvis, while Fnatic launched a music album called Fnatic Island in 2022. Riot Games also released its official song for VALORANT Champions 2023, titled ‘Ticking Away’, featuring musicians Grabbitz and bbno$.
