Sony Pictures Entertainment has launched Wonderverse, an immersive entertainment hub that mixes physical and VR games, interactive installations, and themed food and drink. Housed in an expansive 45,000-square-foot space at Oakbrook Center, this playground of pop-culture features popular Sony properties, including Ghostbusters and Bad Boys.
In full swing since its December debut, Wonderverse is excited to host its grand opening event on Thursday, January 11 located at 100 Oakbrook Center in suburban Oak Brook.
Notable highlights include two VR games inspired by cult favorite Ghostbusters. Game-goers can suit up with proton packs in The Arena to capture ghosts alongside fellow players, and partake in a high-speed chase in Blitz. The VR adventure extends to Jumanji fans, who can solve escape room-style puzzles to recapture a stolen jewel in a game thematically designed around the film.
Sony’s entrant in the themed restaurant trend is Ghost Trap, a hidden speakeasy nestled near the Ghostbusters games. Visitors can find a range of themed cocktails, like the Mood Slime, in this secret alcove that boasts of Ghostbuster thematic decor. Fans of commedy franchise Zombieland can head over to Pacific Playland, featuring arcade classics and an array of high-speed driving games in the Bad Boys Racing Club area.
For those looking for a culinary adventure, the Commissary Restaurant serves up familiar pub fare like burgers, wraps, and fish and chips. Additionally, the popup bar themed around 21 Jump Street hosts cocktail classes and paint-and-sip gatherings.
