How to Unlock Yellow Pikmin in Pikmin 4

There are nine different types of Pikmin in Pikmin 4, each with its own unique abilities. At the beginning of the game, players will only have access to Red Pikmin. However, as they explore the strange and dangerous planet where Olimar and the Rescue Corps are stranded, they will unlock more types of Pikmin.

Yellow Pikmin are among the most important types of Pikmin in the game. They are essential for accessing certain parts of the map and reaching hard-to-reach Treasures. Fortunately, players can unlock Yellow Pikmin early on in Pikmin 4 if they know where to look for them.

How to Get Yellow Pikmin in Pikmin 4

The first opportunity to unlock Yellow Pikmin is in the Sun-Speckled Terrace area, which becomes accessible after completing the game’s prologue. The Yellow Pikmin can be found in the Crackling Cauldron Sublevel, near the Rugged Scaffold base. Before reaching the sublevel, players need to have their Pikmin dig up the entrance or ask Oatchi to help.

Once players enter the Crackling Cauldron, they should follow the path until they spot a pipe sticking out of the wall. Inside the pipe, they will find five Yellow Pikmin waiting to be collected. Additionally, there are more Yellow Pikmin scattered throughout the area. After returning to the surface, players can use these Yellow Pikmin to destroy the electric fence near the entrance to the Creaking Cauldron, which will grant access to the area’s third base.

How to Get the Yellow Pikmin Onion in Sun-Speckled Terrace

In the Sun-Speckled Terrace, players should locate a bag nearby. By using ten or more Pikmin, they can crush the bag and reveal the first of two Yellow Onions (the other one is in the Blossoming Arcadia area). Bringing the Yellow Onion back to the base will merge it with the player’s existing onion, allowing the growth of Yellow Pikmin. These Yellow Pikmin are immune to electricity, making them capable of destroying electric gates. They are also excellent diggers and lighter than other Pikmin, enabling them to be thrown higher and reach otherwise inaccessible areas and Treasures.
