Horizon Forbidden West: What Happens if You Choose Yes, I Do?
Horizon Forbidden West offers several big choices for players to make throughout the main story, including siding with Drakka or Yarra in the Gate of the Vanquished side quest and killing or sparing Regalla in The Wings of the Ten. The Burning Shores expansion also includes a few notable choices, one of which comes at the very end of the main story.
When players reach the conclusion of His Final Act, Seyka confesses her love for Aloy, and players have to respond. As with the DLC expansion’s A Friend in the Dark side quest, they must decide whether to go with their head, heart, or fist. Each option results in a slightly different ending, so players should consider their choices carefully before they act.
What Happens if You Choose Yes, I Do? (Heart)
If players choose the “Yes, I do” option, Aloy and Seyka share a passionate kiss, and players see the rare instance where Aloy smiles. Though the moment is fleeting, Aloy explains that she still has a long road ahead of her. Afterward, Aloy walks off, leaving Seyka to stare out longingly toward the ocean.
What Happens if You Choose I’m Not Ready For This? (Head)
The “I’m not ready for this” option sees Aloy explaining that growing up as an outcast made it difficult for her to connect with people. Although things are getting better, she cannot commit to a real relationship right now. The pair shares a brief embrace before Aloy walks away, leaving Seyka to reflect.
What Happens if You Choose This is Too Much for Me? (Fist)
Choosing “This is too much for me” leads to Aloy expressing the pressures of being Earth’s savior, explaining that she cannot deal with anything else right now. Though Seyka is clearly disappointed, she understands Aloy’s predicament, and the two women hug before Aloy walks away.
Is Aloy Gay?
Given that all options confirm Aloy’s romantic feelings for Seyka, it seems safe to assume that Aloy is either gay or bisexual. As Aloy makes her way toward the rendezvous with Seyka, she talks to herself about how nervous she is and how she’s not ready to say goodbye to Seyka just yet. When combined with the choice itself and resulting dialogue, it’s clear Aloy has romantic feelings for Seyka.
Horizon Forbidden West is available now on PS4 and PS5.
Editor Notes: Why Horizon Forbidden West’s Intimacy Is Good for Gaming News
The inclusion of intimate relationships, especially non-heterosexual ones, in games can have a tremendous impact on the gaming industry. It is a step towards inclusivity and representation, as it enables marginalized groups to see themselves represented in the media. The recent entry of Horizon Forbidden West is an example of such a bold step, and media outlets such as VR Game News are reporting on its impact. It is crucial for media outlets to share news of gaming progress, to encourage more development teams to take similar steps in the future.
