Fortnitemares 2023: How to Play Horde Rush and Unlock Rewards

In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to play Horde Rush in Fortnite and the rewards you can unlock by completing these fun quests.
How to Play Horde Rush
In the new Fortnite UI, locating the Horde Rush game mode is a breeze. Simply go to the Play tab and you’ll find it in the first row of options, next to Battle Royale and Zero Build. If you don’t see it right away, scroll down or check under the By Epic category.
For a smoother gaming experience, we recommend turning on the auto Fill option if you’re not playing with friends.
In Horde Rush, players have two minutes to loot and prepare before the Cube Monsters appear. These hostile creatures must be defeated quickly to avoid being overwhelmed. The game mode consists of several stages:
- Prepare for Battle
- Survive
- Prepare for Battle
- Follow the Storm
- Prepare for Battle
- Survive
- Follow the Storm
- Prepare for Battle
- Defeat the Boss
Strive to achieve a high score every time you play Horde Rush. This game mode will be available until the end of Chapter 4 Season 4, giving you until November 3 at 2 AM ET to partake in the action.
Horde Rush Quests
There are a total of nine Horde Rush challenges that you can tackle during the game mode. Here’s how to complete each one:
- Earn a x40 KO Streak: Defeat 40 Cube Monsters without letting the white multiplier line disappear. The higher your streak, the higher your multiplier.
- Deal melee damage to Cube Monster Spawners (6,000): Use your harvesting tool to deal melee damage to Spawners. Each hit deals 75 damage.
- Upgrade weapons at an upgrade bench in Horde Rush (5): Find an Upgrade Bench near the purple antenna during the Prepare for the Storm phase. Upgrade your weapons using Cube Monster Parts:
- Common to Uncommon: 25 parts
- Uncommon to Rare: 40 parts
- Rare to Epic: 55 parts
- Epic to Legendary: 70 parts
- Assist in collecting Score Multipliers (5): Approach marked Score Multipliers on the mini map and interact with them to collect.
- Assist in opening chests in Horde Rush (75): Open a total of 75 chests in the Horde Rush game mode. Be cautious of the moving storm and nearby Cube Monsters.
- Help defeat the Boss in the final stage of Horde Rush: Work with your team to eliminate the boss and complete the quest.
- Hit headshots on Cube Monsters from at least 15 meters away (100): Use any weapon available to hit headshots on Cube Monsters from a distance.
- Eliminate Cube Monsters using explosives (200): Collect Clingers and Dynamite during Horde Rush to eliminate Cube Monsters. If you accidentally damage yourself, the monsters drop Shield to restore your health.
- Accumulate team points (1,000,000): Increase your point accumulation by collecting Score Multipliers and achieving high KO streaks.
Horde Rush Rewards
Participating in the Horde Rush event during Fortnitemares allows you to earn three free cosmetic items. These rewards are unlocked through Horde Rush Bonus Goals, meaning the more quests you complete, the more rewards you’ll receive. Here’s a list of the available rewards and how to unlock them:
- Complete one Horde Rush Quest: Unlock the Murk wrap.
- Complete four Horde Rush Quests: Unlock the Heart-o-Lantern emoticon.
- Complete seven Horde Rush Quests: Unlock the Batwing Bonespike harvesting tool.
