Introducing Toornament’s New “Custom Bracket” Feature
For tournament organizers who are looking for more freedom in creating their custom tournament format, Toornament is launching the new “Custom Bracket” feature today, and it’s available in beta for all duel tournaments (1 vs 1 or team vs team).
What is the Custom Bracket Feature?
The Custom Bracket structure allows organizers to manually create brackets with custom participant progression, providing more flexibility and control over the tournament format. This feature allows for the creation of brackets such as the LFL or LPL playoffs, a triple-elimination bracket, a twin-headed gauntlet, and more.
How Does it Work?
The custom bracket structure is defined by a “schema” that needs to be written to create all matches and relations between them. Each match is given a name, and participants are identified by seed numbers, previous match results, or specific identifiers.
- The opponent is placed in this match, and they are identified by the seed number
- The opponent won a previous match, and they are identified by a “W” and the identifier of the match they won (i.e “W:A”)
- The opponent lost a previous match, and they are identified by a “L” and the identifier of the match they lost (i.e “L:B”)
Example of Using Custom Bracket
With the custom bracket structure, you can easily generate various tournament formats. For example, a simple Single-Elimination Bracket with 4 participants can be created with specific schema configurations.
Visual Rendition
The custom bracket structure also provides a visual representation of the tournament format, making it easier to manage and understand the progression of matches.
Unique Tournament Structures
In addition to simple brackets, the custom bracket feature allows organizers to create unique tournament structures not achievable with other Toornament structures. For example, you can replicate the structure of the French League of Legends tournament playoffs, Double-Elimination Brackets, and more.
Testing and Improvements
While the “custom bracket” structure is in beta, organizers can test and play with this new format. Toornament is continuously working on improving and enhancing the visual rendition of more complex bracket structures.
Conclusion
The introduction of Toornament’s “Custom Bracket” feature provides tournament organizers with unprecedented freedom and control over their tournament formats. The feature allows for the creation of various unique tournament structures and provides a visual representation of the tournament format, making it easier to manage and understand. With continuous improvements and updates planned, the “custom bracket” feature is a game-changer for tournament organizers.
